Why has the church gone quiet about hell? Pastor Chris Gordon opens with a picture of a town that refuses to listen to tsunami warnings because they feel unkind, and argues that the church has done the same with one of the clearest teachings of Jesus. Without the warning, the gospel loses its urgency and there is no course correction. Walking through Luke 16:14–31, he shows how Jesus, responding to Pharisees who loved money and mocked Him, contrasts two men: a rich man who lived lavishly for this world and ignored the beggar at his gate, and poor Lazarus, whose name means "God has helped," who trusted the Lord through a life of affliction.
